Nicola Tesla is one of the well-known names in the history of engineering. Born and bought up in Austrian Empire which is now known as Croatia. Nicola was a Serbian-American inventor. Not just that he was an electrical and a mechanical engineer too but he was the one with the vision and unshakable belief in his abilities that made the difference. Nicola Tesla is known for his contributions to the field of electricity. Also, he contributed to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.
Tesla was always a well-known face during his school and university days. He bagged many scholarships and was dedicated and committed to his studies. He used to start working at three in the morning and used to stretch till about 11at night to work on his projects.
Tesla started working in the Continental Edison Company in Paris in the year 1882. He worked into the installation of indoor incandescent lighting the whole city in the form of electric power utility which was a fairly new concept to work on back then. Tesla was a quick learner and soon the management noticed his ability and he was then promoted to design the improvised versions of generating dynamos and motors. He worked with the same company for about six months but he later decided to call it quits with the Continental Edison Company. The reason for him quitting this was mentioned in his autobiography where he talked about how he was tricked into designing twenty-four different types of standard machines but was denied the bonus.
Nicola Tesla was determined to make his experiments a huge success and therefore after leaving the Edison company, Tesla worked on patenting the inventions he did back with Edison which were into the arc lighting system.
Nicola Tesla invented an induction in the year 1887. This was a very well expanded power system format that was introduced in Europe and had loads of advantages as it had high-voltage transmission. This experiment was a great success that helped in replacing the mechanical brushes in the year 1888.
The Nicola Tesla Company came into the picture in 1985 when Edward Dean Adams saw Tesla’s lab and agreed to fund him. This gave a new direction to Tesla.
Not just this the Internet was his brainchild. His interest and research into wireless transmission led to this amazing invention. He mentioned in his biography that the whole Earth will be converted into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real and rhythmic whole, which will help in communication regardless of time and distance.
Nicola Tesla happens to be the Leopardi of engineering. A scientist and an inventor who was able to draw people’s attention through his various talents. Tesla was not just a scientist but he was also a poet, a philosopher who preferred isolation more but he seldom used to socialize as well.
