Strategy to Use IDEA Lab to Promote Multidisciplinary Education & Research

Our institute already possesses an inherently multidisciplinary environment through its diverse academic streams and well-equipped laboratory facilities. The establishment of the AICTE-IDEA Lab will significantly strengthen this ecosystem by providing 24×7 advanced facilities that bridge the gap between conceptual understanding and real-world product development.

In alignment with the vision of Industry 4.0, Education 4.0, and NEP 2020, we have observed that traditional curriculum-based learning often restricts students from acquiring industry-ready skills. The IDEA Lab offers a timely solution by promoting experiential, hands-on, and project-based learning.

Key Strategies:

  1. Integration with Curriculum:
The IDEA Lab will be embedded into existing project-based courses (research, participation, presentation, start-up, and incubation activities). Students will carry out a substantial part of their project work in the lab.
  2. Faculty Empowerment:
All faculty members—not only “Gurus”—will be exposed to IDEA Lab tools and trained to integrate live demonstrations and prototype-based learning into classroom instruction, moving away from one-way lecturing.
  3. Blended Physical & Virtual Access:
IDEA Lab resources will be extended in both physical and digital modes using on-premise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and data center technologies, ensuring broader accessibility.
  4. Mandatory Induction Program:
The IDEA Lab will be included as a core component of the mandatory induction program for all incoming students. It will also support similar programs for nearby institutes, alumni, villagers, and stakeholders.
  5. Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
The lab will enable students from all branches to form cross-disciplinary teams focused on prototype development, promoting the NEP 2020 emphasis on multidisciplinary education.
  6. Outreach& Community Development:
The lab will support vocational training, short-term certification courses, and hands-on workshops for the local community, helping enhance employability and skill development.
  7. Industrial Internships:
The IDEA Lab will be used as a platform for early-stage industrial internships (post 1st and 2nd year), emphasizing interdisciplinary project development and exposure to real-world challenges.
  8. School-Level Engagement:
School students will be invited for hands-on sessions, innovation demonstrations, and learning-by-doing workshops to build curiosity and innovation at the foundational level.
